Cannes Docs offers a dedicated space and tailor-made event program for all professionals in the documentary film industry, including filmmakers and industry experts. Located at the heart of the world's number one film festival, Cannes Docs reinforces the crucial position of the documentary genre and enables its organic integration within the global film industry. To this end, Cannes Docs will feature the "Documentary Day," an exclusive full-day celebration advocating for documentary cinema and its essential role in our contemporary society.

The Spanish presence at Cannes Docs-Marché du Film 2024 goes beyond being merely a showcase. In addition to showcasing creative and productive talent, attending the world's largest film festival presents an opportunity to forge international alliances that strengthen the production and distribution of documentaries. In this edition, the Spanish delegation has the honor of featuring four representatives from the current landscape of documentary production in Spain.

The professionals and production companies participating in this edition are a sample of the geographic diversity and current models of Spanish documentary production. The projects they are working on also reflect the richness and variety of forms and expressions of our cinema of realism, including animation and experimental film, film essays, as well as historical and current topics of global interest.

Q&A with Antonio Saura, founder of Latido Films
  For over two decades at the helm of Latido Films, Antonio Saura has sold key titles of Spanish cinema worldwide. Moreover, his unique experience in the sector is also backed by his credits as a producer for Zampa Audiovisual and Zebra Producciones, as well as his role as deputy chairman of the European Film Academy from 2008 to 2019, and his two-year tenure as director of the Media Business School, one of the most prominent international business training institutions. Saura’s historical perspective is undoubtedly exceptional in terms of the history of Spanish cinema and its global reach. Some recent, brilliant Spanish titles in Latido line-up include Isaki Lacuesta’s “Saturn Return”, Carlos Marques-Marcet’s “They Will Be Dust”, Antón Álvarez’s “The Flamenco Guitar of Yerai Cortés” or David Pérez Sañudo’s “The Last Romantics”.

Spanish Representation at the Marché du Film Stands out in 2023, with More than Twenty Spanish Projects Selected in Official Programs
The names of the projects selected to represent the Spanish film industry at the Cannes Film Festival market have been announced: five producers will participate in the Producers Network's Spanish Spotlight, four documentary proposals will be presented in the Spanish Showcase at Cannes Docs, five projects in development will be presented by Spanish Screenings at Goes to Cannes and eight short films will be shown at the Short Film Corner.
