Walter Elias Disney (Chicago, Illinois, December 5, 1901-Burbank, California, December 15, 1966) was an American businessman, animator, screenwriter, voice actor and film producer. A pioneer of the American animation industry, he introduced novelties in the production of cartoons. As a film producer, Disney holds the record for the person with the most Oscar Awards with 22 statuettes and 59 nominations. He was also awarded two special Golden Globe Awards and an Emmy Award, among many other accolades. Several of his films are included in the United States Library of Congress's National Film Registry.
